A famous mystery writer bets the Partridge family that he can find them wherever they are, even with a two-hour head start. He promises to donate $25,000 to their favourite charity if he wins, and so the chase begins.When the Partridge family are burgled one night, Reuben has a new alarm installed in the house. However, they keep setting it off by accident, and a few weeks later are held hostage by an ex con who has been watching the house.Shirley goes on a date with a doctor she used to go out with many years ago, but realizes that the spark is no longer there. When he brings his mother to the house, she has to find a way of telling him she's not interested.The Partridge Family decide that their house isn't big enough and, with the help of Reuben, put the house up for sale. However, when a buyer seems certain, they have second thoughts about leaving their home.After a show, Keith is approached by a Hollywood talent scout and asked to audition for a new movie. After coaching from the family, Keith gets the part and is being treated like a star by everyone in town.The Partridges meet their new neighbour, Ricky Stevens, a four-year-old boy who wants to be a singer. However, while rehearsing with them, his mother complains about the noise - she hates showbusiness and all it entails.Keith is encouraged by a pretty young girl to stop writing popular songs and start writing classical music, much to the chagrin of the other Partridges.Laurie meets up with an old neighbour who has grown up into a very handsome young man. When he takes her on a date she discovers he is a minister, but she still falls in love with him and even talks about marriage.Danny and Keith do a little growing up when they both fall for an older woman, and soon learn that, although infatuated, they are far too young for her.Danny wins second prize in a raffle - his very ownaracehorse!
