Dominic Power has come a long way since making his stage debut as one of literature's most famous amphibians.

Years before playing The Bill's PC Leon Taylor, he landed his first acting job playing Toad of Toad Hall.

"I'd never acted before in my life properly, so I was dead scared and just wanted to make my mates laugh really," he recalls during a break from filming.

Dominic adds: "I was so scared when I was on stage dressed up as a Toad, and I was at that self conscious age. I thought no one can see me dressed up as this toad, they have to see Mr Toad. The moment they see me with green make-up and these jodphurs on and stuff, I'll be very embarrassed."

Thankfully the director saw he had potential and the rest, as they say, is history.

In this Thursday's offering, Tony Stamp (Graham Cole) spends his last shift at Sun Hill. That airs on most ITV1 regions at 9pm.
