Kirstie Alley is to star in her own reality TV series - charting life as a single mum and her deals with her fluctuating weight.

The former Cheers star will appear in 10 episodes of the as yet untitled programme, Variety reports.

The unscripted show is due to be aired in the US on network channel A&E sometime next year.

It will follow the 58-year-old's busy schedule as she juggles bringing up two teenagers with launching a weight loss programme and other work concerns.

A&E executive Robert Sharenow told Variety: "Her personal life has been playing out in the media for years, but this will be the first time she'll be opening up her home to reveal her real life for the cameras
