My two nights in Gothenburg were based at the newly opened boutique Hotel Avalon, slap bang in the centre of the city, next to the Saluhallen Food Hall. Just a ten minute walk from the central train station and a stones throw away from tram lines that take you anywhere in the city. • The gorgeous bathroom with dark beautiful tiles and large his and hers sink.
• The snug as a bug Swedish mattresses and light as a feather cosy duvets.
• Interesting works of art on all floors, including an amazing colourful painted throne, twinned with one that I spotted in the museum of Design and Decorative Arts.
• Fresh orchids in the bedroom.
• Amazing view over the city from the hotel terrace which is also home to a swimming pool.

The most amazing buffet breakfast ever including, meats, cheeses, cooked breakfast, herring and meatballs!
