Nicorette patches, filter and chewing gum... then I'm set for a flight to Australia! I also always take two alarm clocks.

EVERYWHERE I GO I ALWAYS ...

Get stopped by the police. Maybe they recognise me from one of the films I did when I was younger and think they recognise me from a wanted poster.

WHEN I'M TRAVELLING I ALWAYS MISS ...

My Sunday roast. I'm such a boring Brit: I crave a decent roast and veg. In America you just can't get decent vegetables and in Italy they're always cold. British veg is the best.

I'LL NEVER GO BACK TO ...

Argentina. They may have had problems with their currency, but they're getting it back from the tourists. I was there with a film crew and almost every one of us got mugged. I loved the food and the normal people we met, but I took to wearing an old cagoule and going around with a couple of days' stubble, which seemed to work.

MY IDEA OF PARADISE IS ...

A smattering of Italy - the countryside, the food and the cultural sites - then at 6pm I'd have a bit of France, where people come out onto street corners in little rural towns to have a glass of wine and chat with their neighbours.

MY MOST MEMORABLE MEAL WAS ...

In Argentina. It was a simple dish of basil, cherry tomatoes and onion. I'm not usually a fan of tomatoes. I find them lacklustre and the skin reminds me of a bin liner, but we had these incredible cherry tomatoes that were really tasty and sweet. After a week of steak, they tasted brilliant.

I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO VISIT ...

Peru. I want to walk the Inca trail and see this ancient civilisation. When I'm 60 I'm going to buy a round-the-world ticket and go backpacking. I want to see the pyramids, and explore France.

THE THING I HATE ABOUT TRAVEL IS ...

Rude people. Why do people insist on posing on aeroplanes? I was once lucky enough to fly to Australia in first class (the only time) and I brought my pyjamas and could hear people whispering, so I gave them a smile and said: 'Have you never flown first class before?'

WE ALWAYS TAKE FAMILY HOLIDAYS IN ...

Rented cottages. The only requirement is that it has a swimming pool as my family loves swimming. I don't swim, so I sit by the pool looking like a lifeguard. Our best holiday was in a house in a little village on the Algarve. We spent the whole time taking dips in the pool, popping to the beach, and cooking.
