Between them the popular instant messaging programs, such as AOL Instant Messenger (Aim) and MSN Messenger, have millions of registered users.Unfortunately, though, there is little compatibility between the different networks. For example, MSN/Live Messenger users can’t directly contact friends who use Aim.There is the odd exception of course; Yahoo and MSN Live users can intermingle but, even so, the system doesn’t always work as well as it should.There is a better way, however. Use a single application to stay in touch with everyone. There are a few programs that enable this and in this Workshop we are going to look at a couple of the most popular, Trillian and Meebo.
