Natural colour tones, subtle details to dark backdrops and excellent connectivity are the stand out features with the Hitachi P50T01U 50-inch plasma screen. In addition, the TV is well priced and the details in every last tiny texture are fine when viewing pristine HD fodder

We Like: Good price; very natural colour tones; connectivity is very good; features galore

We Don't Like: Dithering noise when showing movement; not the best black level response; no 1080p/24 support

Judgement: Hitachi was once one of the leading lights of the budget plasma TV world. But while the P50T01U remains attractive enough on the price front, its performance is let down by one or two old-school problems that other manufacturers seem to have solved
