The Philips DCM230 is an undeniably stylish CD player, FM/AM radio and iPod docking station. It's very solidly built, and with its Dynamic Bass Boost option enabled it packs a hell of a punch. Intuitively integrated with all iPods, it just about justifies a pretty steep price tag

We Like: Design; build; decent enough sound quality for casual listeners; great remote control

We Don't Like: Lack of natural bass; price; lack of features; lack of codec support; no support for DRM'd music

Accessories: iPod

Judgement: A stylish but distinctly average system. The typical MP3 fan won't highlight many issues, but a keen ear or more audio-savvy music fan will find sound quality and the feature set somewhat disappointing
