The Motorola Rokr E8 is a smashing handset, both for calls and playing music. Unlike many other music phones, the E8 has included a 3.5mm headphone socket so you can use your own headphones. Its superb audio quality and full-bodied music playback make it a cut above the rest

We Like: Sound quality; 3.5mm headphones socket; design and build; haptic keypad; sharp, bright screen

We Don't Like: Small display; sluggish menus and navigation; phone takes getting used to; no support for protected music files

Accessories: Better earphones

Judgement: With great sound quality, a native 3.5m headphone socket and decent music file format support, the E8 is a terrific music phone. It’s not quite a replacement for a dedicated MP3 player yet and it will take you a while to get used to using it, but it’s certainly a cut above most of the rest
