This year, we saw new superzooms without electronic viewfinders, and the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H3 is one of this new breed. This 8-megapixel compact packs in the manual features, plus a long zoom lens in a camera that's smaller -- if not lighter -- than most superzooms

We Like: 10x optical zoom lens; small size; optical image stabilisation; face detection

We Don't Like: Noisy images at higher ISOs; no place to put your thumb

Judgement: If you don't like electronic viewfinders but want a superzoom, this Sony stuffs a 10x zoom lens and 8 megapixels into a tiny package, although image quality at higher ISOs is a bit lacking
