Apple iMac (24-inch, 2.8GHz)

Apple iMac (24-inch, 2.8GHz)
Apple iMac (24-inch, 2.8GHz) - (Desktops)

Score: 8.0

The 24-inch iMac's striking design and impressive performance compare favourably to its smaller 20-inch sibling. In addition to a larger screen size, the 24-inch model offers higher-end configuration options and, of course, a higher price tag. Check out how the 2.8GHz processor performed

We Like: Industry-leading design; big, beautiful display; excellent application performance

We Don't Like: Higher-end model features the same mid-range graphics card as lower-end models; free phone support ends after 90 days; might want to hold off until Leopard is released to save yourself the cost of an OS upgrade

Judgement: With the same elegant design as its 20-inch, 2.4GHz sibling, the 24-inch, 2.8GHz iMac offers 30 per cent more screen area and a modest performance boost but the added cost of the larger, faster model might put off some buyers, especially if you are a gamer or an upgrade enthusiast
