Fitness Phones
mobile-phones.co.uk expert Thomas Newton offers a round-up of sporty phones and applications that will get you fit enough to give Paula Radcliffe a run for her money.
SAMSUNG ADIDAS F110 MiCOACH
The MiCoach is the first phone to be specifically designed as a training device within a mobile phone. Distances of your strides are measured via a sensor which straps into the laces of your running shoes, and the heart rate monitor goes around your chest both of which connect to the phone via Bluetooth.
You can set up a training plan online, so when you get back from a run, the pedometer and heart-rate monitor uploads all the information to the site, allowing you to chart your progress from your desktop.
Fitness programs range from the Learning to run option for beginners to professional settings like interval and stamina training.
On the quality of the phone itself, nothing makes it stand out from the pack, but there are no serious flaws either. The sturdy build and rubberised grip make it necessarily strong and easy to grip for runners.
Verdict:
For those serious about fitness, this is really a fantastic piece of kit to own. Although the idea sounds gimmicky it is far from it the training features work as well as any standalone fitness device, and it has good enough features to be competitive as a mobile phone.
