All Black flyhalf Carter cited for high tackle

08/11/2009 23:44

LONDON (Reuters) - New Zealand flyhalf Dan Carter will face a disciplinary hearing on Monday after being cited for a high tackle on Wales replacement scrumhalf Martin Roberts late in Saturday's Cardiff international.

Carter crashed into Roberts 10 minutes from the end of the game, won 19-12 by the tourists, prompting Wales coach Warren Gatland to complain that the All Black number 10 should have been yellow carded.

He escaped punishment at the time but the Six Nations disciplinary committee, which oversees the November internationals, said on Sunday that the match citing commissioner had ordered Carter to appear before Judicial Officer Jeff Blackett.

If Carter, who moved to within one point of Andrew Mehrtens as his country's leading points scorer on Saturday, is suspended he could miss one or more of New Zealand's remaining tour games against Italy, England and France.
