LONDON (Reuters) - Welsh midfielder Jason Koumas has retired from international duty, the Football Association of Wales said on Sunday.

Koumas, 29, who plays in the Premier League for Wigan Athletic, made 34 appearances for Wales since 2001 and scored 10 goals.

Wales host Russia in a 2010 World Cup Group Four qualifier on Wednesday, needing a win to keep alive their minimal hopes of progressing to the finals in South Africa.
