Chris Coleman believes there are plenty of reasons to be positive as Fulham bid to halt a run of four straight defeats, even though Premiership leaders Chelsea are their next opponents.
The Cottagers were thumped 5-1 at Liverpool in midweek, although the final scoreline flattered the Reds somewhat as the visitors conceded two goals in the closing moments at Anfield.
Coleman has vowed his side will "get right into the faces" of the Blues and insists his troops can shock the champions-elect on Sunday at Craven Cottage.
"We believe we are seeing some light at the end of the tunnel with the way we played at Anfield, regardless of the scoreline," the Welshman said.
"It is within touching distance for us, and I do not think we deserved to go down 5-1 at Liverpool.
"It was a far better performance than the previous two games when we were smashed 4-0 by Arsenal and then lost badly at Everton.
"That performance did not deserve such a scoreline, but that is what we got. Now we must go into our game on Sunday with Chelsea and believe we can get something."
Coleman insists his men would meet Jose Mourinho’s star-studded squad head on.
"We will have to be brave, go into it with belief and give Chelsea a run for their money. We will get into their faces - and if we get anything we will be back on track.
"I promise it will be a full battle cry.....continued below
"Yes, they are the best team in the league, the champions, but they are coming to Craven Cottage where we have had good results and performances all season. Now we have got to produce another one.
"We have got to produce a great result and stop this bad run of results."
The Cottagers are currently in 16th place, some eight points clear of the bottom three but having played more games than the sides below them.
Coleman feels Fulham can get the results they need to secure a place in the top flight again next season.
"After Chelsea we have Aston Villa away and then we have some decent games, particularly at home, next month where we can pick up points and put this problem to bed once and for all," he said.
"We have eight games left and probably need eight more points, a few weeks ago we were almost half way in the table, so we have chosen the worst possible time to have a bad run of results."
