Past tense
To form the simple past tense, I spoke/I have spoken, I sold/I
have sold, etc. combine the present tense of the verb
avere - to have with the past participle
of the verb, e.g.

When the auxiliary verb essere
is used, the past particple

(andato,
stato)
becomes an adjective and should agree
|
|
|
with the subject of the verb, e.g.

we went (plural)
