SPELLING & PRONOUNCIATION Spelling and pronouncing German are easy once you know the basic rules. This section has been designed so that as you read the pronunciation of the phrases you can follow the German. This will help you to recognize the different sounds and you will soon be able to pronounce German from the spelling alone (the stressed syllable is marked in heavy italics). Here are a few rules you should know:
