Toothed Topshell

Shell is marked with close-packed concentric ridges and bears beautiful purple zigzag patterns; older specimens are usually worn at the apex. Seen from below, mouth of shell has sheen of mother-of-pearl and 'toothed' lip. Widespread and common on rocky coasts of Ireland, SW England and Wales; favours mid-tide level.
