Shelled Slug Shelled Slug
Testacella scutulum
Length up to 10cm

A strange slug with a fingernail-like shell covering the mantle at the rear end. A predator of earthworms and spends much of its life underground; easiest to find in garden compost heaps. Occurs locally in SC and E England and SE Ireland.
