A shell-less mollusc. Mostly found in fairly deep waters but in summer moves to lower rocky shores to spawn. Body yellowish but with olive-brown blotches; skin texture rather warty. When undisturbed, looks rather sausage-like with two tentacles at head end and frilly gills at rear. Contracts body when alarmed.
