Length up to 12cm
A bizarre-looking mollusc whose body encloses its soft shell. Body often appears rather lumpy and is blotched grey and brown; has four tentacles at head end. Slow-moving creature, found among seaweeds in rock pools on very low tides. Ejects a purple dye if alarmed. Widespread around S and W coasts of Britain and Ireland.
