A common bivalve mollusc. Shell rather rounded in outline but thin when viewed sideways on; marked with numerous, close-packed concentric growth ridges. Shell colour pale grey-brown. Widespread and often common in sand and mud on shores and estuaries around Britain and Ireland. Filter feeds using its long siphons.
