A rounded, almost spherical mollusc with a smooth, shiny shell. Colour extremely variable but commonly bright yellow or reddish brown. Usually associated with egg wrack and bladder wrack and could be mistaken for these species' air floats. Often numerous at mid-tide level on rocky shores around Britain and Ireland.
