A small, bean-shaped mollusc whose shell is marked with pinkish purple lines and has a slit-like opening on its lower side. In life, the animal's mottled mantle edges envelop the margins of the shell. The foot is beautifully striped and, at the head end, there is a conspicuous siphon. Widespread on the lower shore.
