Length 100-120cm

Common but justifiably wary of man given history of persecution of this species. Easily recognised by dog-like appearance, orange-red fur and bushy, white-tipped tail. Gives birth and spends much of daytime in underground 'earth'. Widespread in mainland Britain and Ireland. Has colonised urban areas in recent years.
