Insects - Nemoura cinerea Insects - Nemoura cinerea
Nemoura cinerea
Body length 10mm

A widespread and fairly common stonefly seen May-July. The adult is sometimes disturbed from vegetation growing beside clean, fast-flowing streams and rivers. It prefers to creep away from danger and has rather sluggish flight. The wings are smoky-brown and, at rest, appear to be rolled lengthways around the body; the tail appendages are very reduced and do not project beyond wings at rest.
