A large and robust stonefly, common in parts of N and W Britain. Nymph lives in fast-flowing stony, upland rivers and streams and adult is sometimes found among waterside vegetation from MayJuly. Body of adult is mostly dark brown and shows two long tail appendages which project beyond smoky-grey wings when at rest.
