A common capsid bug in S England and Wales; scarce or absent further N and in Ireland. Colour variable but usually dark reddish brown; forewings show orange-red lateral patch near tip. Feeds on developing fruits and seeds of numerous plants but also on aphids and other small insects. Adult seen July-August.
