Body length 5mm

A common and widespread mayfly in Britain and Ireland. The nymph can be found in a range of standing water habitats including ponds, streams and canals; it has long, hairy tail appendages and can swim well with a wriggling motion. The adult is seen in spring and summer. It lacks hindwings and the forewings are clear but have a beautiful sheen at some angles. The body colour is yellowish-brown.
