An extremely hairy beetle with wasp- or bee-like black and orange-yellow markings on elytra; thorax and abdomen buffish brown. Adults seen from June­September and visit flowers including thistles and thyme. Mostly associated with upland areas. Seldom common; occurs locally in N Wales, N England and Scotland.
