Birch Polypore Birch Polypore
Piptoporus betulinus
Up to 20cm across

Familiar bracket fungus which is found exclusively on the trunks of birch trees. The fungus is semi-circular and up to 4cm thick. The upper surface is buffish brown while the underside is white with tiny pores. Widespread. Found all year.
