Spring Sandwort

Characteristic plant of bare limestone soils or spoil from lead mines. Whorls of narrow, 3-veined leaves are carried on slender stems. White, 5-petalled flowers are 7­9mm across and appear May­September. Green sepals are shorter than petals.
