Delightful little fish of rocky shores. Common and widespread in suitable habitats around coasts of Britain and Ireland, particularly numerous in W. Found among stones and seaweed in rocky gullies on lower shore; sometimes trapped in rock pools at low tide. Colours variable but usually mottled greenish brown.
