Sometimes called the tadpole shrimp because of its appearance. More closely resembles a miniature horseshoe crab with its shield-shaped carapace; segmented abdomen has two tail-like projections. Sporadic in appearance; eggs can persist for long periods in dry mud. Known only from a few seasonal pools in New Forest.
