Wingspan 40-50mm
Widespread but very local in mainland Britain and Ireland. Flies May-June but only active when sunny. Beautifully marked wings. Favours damp heaths and moors but also dry chalk grassland. Larvae feed on devil's-bit scabious and plantains.
