Wingspan 34mm
Common and widespread in England and Wales but absent from Scotland and Ireland. Favours grassy places of all kinds and flies June-July. Upperwings dark brown and orange-brown with pale markings. Underwings buffish orange with paler spots. In common with most other skippers, at rest often holds wings at an angle and can look rather moth-like. Caterpillar feeds on various grasses.
