Recalls female common blue but smaller and orange submarginal spots on brown upperwings much more prominent. Local in S and C England. Larva on common rock-rose and storksbills. Closely related species, northern brown argus, is similar but has white spot on forewing; occurs very locally in N England and Scotland.
