Introduced from native E Asia and feral populations now established in parts of S England such as Virginia Water. Male striking with mane of orange, white and brown feathers and orange 'sails' on back. Female grey-brown with white 'spectacle' around eye and large, pale spots on underparts. Nests in tree holes.
