Charming resident of woods, heaths and hedgerows, feeding flocks resembling animated feather dusters. Plumage can look black and white but at close range has pinkish wash to underparts and pinkish buff on back. Has tiny, stubby bill, long tail and almost spherical body. Widespread in mainland Britain and Ireland.
