Capercaillie
Tetrao urogallus

Huge gamebird, male almost half as big again as female. Formerly extinct but reintroduced in 19th century to former range in Scottish Highlands. Female (B) has grey-brown plumage with orange-brown patch on breast. Birds often perch in surprisingly small trees. Forages on ground for shoots and buds.
