Hungarian-American actor. Known for her blond beauty and glamour, as well as her comic quips about men, marriage, and materialism, she appeared in a number of Hollywood films from the 1950s, including a starring role in John
Huston's
Moulin Rouge in 1952. Mostly she played supporting roles, however, and maintained her celebrity status as a socialite.
She followed her actor sister Eva Gabor to the USA in 1941. Her film debut was in the musical comedy
Lovely to Look At (1952). After playing a number of supporting roles, she began to appear in cameo roles as herself from the 1960s.
