Japanese Mahayana Buddhist festival held in July, during which families reunite to remember and honour their ancestors, welcoming them into the home. There is a fete with dancing and games, and the Buddha is offered flowers and fruit. Monks will visit home shrines to perform ceremonies and read the Buddhist scriptures.

Blue represents the sea and the sky. The points of the trident represent the three principles of democracy: government of, for, and by the people. Effective date: 30 November 1966. >>
