Rudd


Freshwater bony fish allied to the roach. It is tinged with bronze, and has reddish fins, the dorsal being farther back than that of the roach. It is found in British and European lakes and sluggish streams. The largest weigh over 1 kg/2.2 lb and may be as much as 45 cm/18 in long.

Classification
The rudd Scardinius erythropthalmus belongs to the order Cypriniformes, class Osteichthyes.
