Narrow, steep-walled ridge, often meandering, found in formerly glaciated areas. It was originally formed beneath a glacier. It is made of sands and gravels, and represents the course of a river channel beneath the glacier. Eskers vary in height from 3 to 30 m/10 to 100 ft and can be up to 160 km/100 mi or so in length. Eskers are often used for roads as they are areas of high ground above marshy clay lowlands (glacial deposits).

It is said that berries were used to dye the flag. Red represents the blood shed in the past and the willingness to offer it again. White stands for right, truth, the honour of free citizens, and trustworthiness. Effective date: 27 February 1990. >>
