Primary Industry 
Any extractive industry, including mining and quarrying. Agriculture, fishing, and forestry are also included in this category since they involve the extraction of natural resources (see industrial sector).
Developing countries often have a higher proportion of their workforce involved in primary industries than developed countries, where secondary and tertiary industries (see industrial sector) are of more importance.
