Parquetry
Geometric version of marquetry: a decorative veneer applied to furniture and floors, composed of shaped pieces of wood or other suitable materials, such as bone, horn, or ivory, to form a geometric pattern or mosaic.
Parquetry was first practised in Germany and the Low Countries; it was introduced from there to France in the 17th century, and to England around 1675.
