King of France 183048. Son of Louis Philippe Joseph, Duke of Orléans 174793; both were known as Philippe Egalité from their support of the 1792 Revolution. Louis Philippe fled into exile 17931814, but became king after the 1830 revolution with the backing of the rich bourgeoisie. Corruption discredited his regime, and after his overthrow, he escaped to the UK and died there.
