Pakaraima Mountains


Mountain range in the Guiana Highlands along the border between Brazil, Venezuela, and Guyana, extending from west to east for over 800 km/497 mi. Its highest peak is Mount Roraima at 2,810 m/9,222 ft above sea level, surrounded by cliffs 300 m/1,000 ft high, at the conjunction of the three countries. The range forms a watershed between the basins of the Orinoco and Branco rivers. Formed 300 million years ago, Pacaraima has unique fauna and flora consisting of grasses, bushes, flowers, insects, and small amphibians.
