Chilean revolutionary, known as ‘the Liberator of Chile’. He was a leader of the struggle for independence from Spanish rule 1810–17 and head of the first permanent national government 1817–23.

The triangle represents equality and the rainbow signifies peace. The arms may be replaced by the motto Dios, Union, Libertad, ‘God, Union, Liberty’. Effective date: September 1972. >>
