Honorary post held by a UK cabinet minister who has a special role outside that of the regular ministries. The post was created in 1351, and was originally the monarch's representative controlling the royal lands and courts within the duchy. Hilary Armstrong was appointed to the post following the cabinet reshuffle in May 2006.
